Received my AIM 4170b on 4-14-08 via UPS, wrapped very well and was in perfect condition.

Powered up the unit using the 9v DC (measures 13.36 Vdc) wall wart external power supply that is supplied with the unit.  After pressing the on/off button the green light blinked out the release number and was ready to perform.  Unfortunately I misunderstood the RS-232/USB adapter issues, thus I did not have a connecting cable.  You need to order either an RS-232, DB9, M-F cable (not adapter) OR an RS-232 to USB adapter and cable.  The photo on the Array Solutions page shows a cable but the words on the left do not include any cable.  Stopped by Comp-USA and purchased a new cable for $6.99 and was ready to go.

Inserted the enclosed CD, copied all files to c:\Program Files\Aim4170  directory, and created a shortcut on my desktop for easy access to the AIM_650.exe file.

Connected the 4170, powered it up, and doubled-clicked the program icon.

Performed the calibration and saved the .acal file.

Analyzed my G5RV, Ringo Ranger II, and a RadioShack (cheap) scanner antenna. Measured the length of several sections of coax - amazingly accurate.

test4-17-08
Analyzed dummy load and two lightning arrestors for insertion losses.  Also played with rescan button to do a comparison trace.  Need to try a rescan with the dummy load with and without the lightning arrestor to do a comparison.

4-19-08
Attempted to analyze my mobile antenna but a complete failure resulted due to the coil being broken and corroded..

4-20-08
Analyzed my 10, 12, 15, 20, 40, and 80 meter Hustler mobile antennas that are attached to my travel trailer.

4-26-08
Added the coil page.

Posted review on eham: http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/6258?page=11  Wound and ran scans of 4:1 balun and 1:1 balun.

4-28-08
Posted scan for BNC to Binding Post adapter.

Ordered a new Larson Ordered a new NMO 2/70 dual-band antenna from HRO.  Received the antenna with the open coil and the highest gain on 2 meters but a narrower bandwidth on 440.

5-29-08 New scan for Larson 2M/440.

3-03-09
Added the 101 ohm resistor page
